I am going to start driving soon and I have an iPad that does not have cellular service. My question is will it work with Co Pilot program without the cellular?

you can get a bluetooth gps receiver to work with the ipad... just google it, around 100 bucks on amazon. gps isnt cellular, it is its own chip.

So even with an app like Co Pilot Truck it won't work without this GPS bluetooth receiver?

    I just found this.

First, does the iPad have a GPS already? If it's a 3G or 4G model, the answer is yes-there is a built-in GPS receiver. And the GPS is completely separate from the 3G/4G service, so you don't even have to have an active data plan for the GPS to work. You could buy a 3G/4G model iPad, never activate your Verizon or AT&T service, and still have GPS data. (WiFi only iPads do not have a GPS).

What's wrong with a regular truckers GPS?
The iPad won't tell you about restricted routes or low clearances....

This is a good way to hit a bridge. There is no app or GPS that is never wrong.

First of all any GPS should be a secondary form of navigation to a truckers road atlas and proper trip planning. Second, Co Pilot is a Truck designed GPS app that does have settings for bridges, restricted roads and so on.

    Marky84 Thanks this.

if you get or use a gps, make sure it is STAA friendly. and only use it as a tool. i bought a cobra gps last year. its already done paid itself off, but guess what? i have not touched it in 3 weeks. if you are 100% on trip planning(takes time), you dont need a gps. just the MC atlas.

    tdriver196 and Macneil Thank this.
