While I agree that you have to abide by the company rules, some rules seem to be overkill.
Swift had driver facing cams for a year or so. They were stricter with it at first, including the seat belt in the yard that this driver is complaining about.
Eventually they softened up a bit and let you get away with no seat belt in the yard since there was so much in and out at short intervals, and the speeds were very low.
But we new the rules from day one. Break the rules and you get hit with a violation, and too many violations put you job at risk.
I never got very many points, even during the strictest times, because I always tried to follow the rules. Some drivers racked up many points because they simply would not listen and do.
Bottom line is you can either comply or find someplace else to work.

I get why they have inward cameras at megas, I hate them, I have pushed back on my insurance companies on putting them in trucks to reduce the cost and will continue to do so.
However, the problem is until this is an actual profession, recognized as such with a structure to bring people on board as drivers, we have a majority of people thinking they can drive a truck or worst - they don't give a crap and just want the money. Even cake decorators are considered a profession but not trucking.
I know of a couple of fleets who have used hiring services and they reject 90% of the drivers because of a combination of these things or all of them; their record, their attitude, they fail the driving test.JoeyJunk, Gearjammin' Penguin, tscottme and 2 others Thank this. -
A lot of companies use bright coloured seat belts so they can monitor seat belt usage at terminals.. nothing new except a camera caught him. You gotta remember that some not so bright drivers didn’t close door properly and fell out of moving trucks turning and hitting a bump in the past .

My wife and I have had disagreements about just that. Though I have 2 trucks, only one is on the road because I've seen how some drivers take care of equipment that isn't theirs. Both trucks are paid off, it costs me nothing to leave one sit.jason6541, JoeyJunk, Magoo1968 and 1 other person Thank this. -
Didn’t the fedgov recently pass a law requiring auto manufacturers to soon install breathalyzers in new cars to detect drunk drivers ?

I ignore the camera.
I have told the safety department that I do not wear a seatbelt while I’m in a plant or any other tight place while I’m backing or maneuvering. Never heard from them since.JoeyJunk Thanks this. -
Ha ha ha JB Hunt with cameras in the truck now ha ha ha. I wonder if they’re gonna put it in every JB Hunt truck ha ha ha. Ha ha
This is management: JB Hunt, driver, you have an alert on your camera. .you raised your right cheek what’s with that . ha ha ha
We have cameras in our trucks now too doesn’t bother me. I have a score of under 50 I think it’s 25. That’s gonna be good to see JB Hunt with cameras, violations everywhere they’re never gonna make it. Ha ha haLast edited by a moderator: Oct 6, 2023
