There is an opportunity waiting for one of the microwave mfrs. Most trucks will not have a big enough "hole" for one of the .7 cu ft. micros that are available for as little as $45.00. The almost square size .5 cu. ft. micros have almost disappeared from the marketplace. The Sharp half pint was perfect and would run on a modified sine wave inverter. Whirlpool has a nice unit that will fit but some drivers say it wont run on a modified sine wave. Anyone find a different unit?

Thanks D But yours is the same as mine. About 17 to 18 inches long. Wont fit in a Volvo, Freightliner and many more. The .5 cu ft. are only about 14 inches wide and almost the same for height and length They fit perfectly.

I just put the whirlpool in a truck and I am having the same problem. It lights up and looks to turn on but it will not heat up. I just got off the phone with TK and he told me to get a microwave with a knob that turns it on. He said a lot of the microwaves don't put a big enough load with they first start up. I have a different one here I am going to give it a try and see what happens.

loves the drive. Thanks but .7 cu ft/ micros have the door on the long side. Door needs to be on an end like the discontinued Sharp half pint. I am using a .7 but I put it in lengthwise and when I have to use it I pull it out half way and hold it while my meals cook. Works but definitely mickey mouse.
