Company installed a 1500W inverter in truck. It's a cobra cpi1590. Only on the issue so far and it could be what I plugged in to it. I bought a small 5 cup mainstays coffee pot at Walmart. Plugged it in to inverter and got it setup to make coffee. Well I hit snooze on my alarm and when i got up, inverter had shut off. I plugged in my surge protector to inverter and coffee pot into surge protector. It brewed, but the fan on inverter stayed on. A coffee pot that small shouldn't pull 1500 watts should it? Makes me leery of using my 750w microwave.

That's normal. I have The same coffee pot and an 1800 and comes on every time I brew a pot.( fan)
Draws enough power that it kicks on the apu too because it's drawing nearly 1000 while it's perking( brewing).
The pot is 650w or 750w can't remember that's what it's pulling while just keeping the plate warm. I'm pretty sure it surges to 1000 or more as it pumping water.
Might want to do some reading on that particular microwave you have to see what it peaks at while cooking.

Or you could just read the tag on the back of the microwave. Gov't regulations state all appliances must have their rated wattage posted on the unit. Usually on the back or sides.

If the watts rating is rubbed off or missing, but it gives you amps, you get watts by multiplying amps times volts.

    Example: 10 amps x 120 volts = 1200 watts.

I have used the microwave in two other trucks. One had company installed inverter (1800w wasn't a brand you would see on sale in truck stops) second go around was a powerdrive 2000w. No issues with either. Would the microwave manufacturer website have the peak output information?

Right I knew about the formula. The coffee pot should have UL label as well shouldn't it?

It might. It's not necessarily the UL label that has the info, just some label on the back. Major appliances have it, but a coffee pot, not sure.

I know the inverter Ozark puts in their truck has the watt readout on the digital display. I can see when my fridge kicks on and off, how much my TV draws, my laptop, even my handheld vac.

You'll see the watts on the bottom of the pot .
    Yes absolutely.

Yea but if its no longer in production you wouldn't know. Just read the label on the back and be done with it LOL

Some microwaves have the watt rating on the front panel near the display.

If it's not clear on their website you can also just type in your browser.
( brand) microwave peak wattage out put.
You should get a results page that you can sift through and find the answer.

Nice. The inverter does show voltage on display. It was staying at 14.1 the entire time the coffee pot was brewing. But it only started on after utilizing the surge protector.
