Hello Truckers,
I am a tax attorney, formerly with the IRS General Counsel office for over 25 years. I have a tax practice in Washington DC that specializes in defending individuals and companies against IRS audits, liens, levies, garnishments, and criminal prosecution, as well helping them resolve their back tax issues with solutions such as abatements, installment agreements, and offers in compromise.
Along with [POST=1500304]Jerry Collette[/POST], a paralegal with a business helping truckers save money on state income taxes, I am now an official supporter of this forum. Jerry will be doing the regular monitoring of this forum and answering many of the basic questions about trucker taxes. When he sees posts that call for extra input, he will flag those posts for me to answer.
So, post your trucker tax questions and tell your trucker friends about this forum.
Jerry Collette and I look forward to answering your posts and making this forum the best forum on the Internet for trucker taxes.
Sincerely,
Introducing Alvin Brown, Tax Attorney and Trucker Taxes Forum Supporter

Where can I find a local trucking tax attorney? Is there a website that can help me find one in my area?
-
I'm the paralegal who works with Mr. Brown on this forum. Without disclosing too much, why you need an attorney, and why does it have to be a local one? Most trucking law is federal and, if you're dealing with an IRS problem, you may be better off with somebody dealing directly with Washington. Local practitioners are sometimes hesitant to take tough stands in front of the IRS agents they deal with all the time.
If you need to contact me in private, go ahead. -
can you help with ad valoreum taxes?? I am new and have been running LTL loads with a 26,000 lbs tag. My question is....do I have to pay ad valoreum taxes in certain states when i just travel thru them and if so do you know which states that is? also, if i have to pay these taxes, who do i contact to file? i have received notification from Arkansas...can't figure out how they knew to tax me... i need help in finding out who to contact about these taxes as i travel thru numerous states! thanks!!!
