I am reasonably sure I got the job. It really wasnt much of an interview, the gentleman was telling me what the job entails, benefits, pay, etc. He was extremely nice. He then had me talk to a driver-trainer that had been there for 18 years to explain more in depth about what linehaul is all about and how Saia works. Sounded great to me, I really i didnt much convincing. lol. They said everyone just got a raise, which is starting tonight.

They made copies of my license, SS card and DOT Medical card. I signed some paperwork, releases for former employers and such. He said another lady would call me and set up a physical, drug screen, and road test. I was hoping to get that call today, since its a holiday weekend they are all off tomorrow, I know I won't hear from them until next week. I am anxious to plan my exit from my current company. lol

All should be good now, my background and MVR are clean as a whistle, as long as my former employers don't bad mouth me, ha. Although if i know the process they are just checking for any safety issues.

Anyways, thats my update, hope i hear from them first thing monday.

    Big Don Thanks this.

They did say I could be out in the system for up to two years before getting a bid, although he said its entirely possible to get a bid much sooner than that. They are expanding their docks right now, adding 70 new doors. As far as home time he said it all depends, I could be home every night, or one, two, three, or four nights, or I could be gone all week, just depends on whats going on. Will always have two consecutive days off a week at home. If its really busy at that terminal its more likely I'll be home more often. He did mention that being out in the system you'll likely make more money. Hit top rate after 18 months, which is .60 cpm. It all sounds good to me, I'm tired of making chump change.

Sounds like you got the job. Congrats. Keep the community filled in on how they work. 4 years ago I was going to work for them but no info on here about them made me pick a different company at the time. Not any Saia drivers on here. A lot more info about LTL now on here. I'm happy where I ended up. But still for others who are looking for a great job and home time in LTL drivers sharing their experience with LTL companies helps a lot. Drivers on here are Leary and think people BS about what linehaul drivers make and can't believe you can make 60,70,80,90k a year outside of UPSF or Fedex Freight and be home daily or weekends. LInehaul is s great job and you'll look back and be very happy especially the way it sounds with your current job.

I'm so used to working on holidays and weekends now that I'm here o actually have nothing planned to do. I'm already starting to like Saia and haven't even started training yet.

How long did it take them to get you started after your interview/offer?

Like I said earlier I'm really hoping they call me monday to set up the physical and road test. Interviewing before the holiday weekend is going to drag this out, lol. Do they have to wait to get everything from my previous employers before they can do anything?

It took a day to get all the previous employers. I actually forgot one and had to come back up there to finish it. She said it would take another business day but she called me back 2 hrs later and scheduled a road test. Immediately after the road test she offered me the job "offer letter " and sent me to do a DOT physical and drug test, that took 1 hr I had to bring her back the paperwork. Then she asked when could I start. I had to give 2 weeks. So the process took a little longer bc I still had my full time gig but they worked with me 100%. Prolly 1 week total.

I don't think they wait on all your previous employers bc they didn't call my current until after they offered the job and I had ALOT of jobs and I know they didn't all respond within a day...lol

can you explain what you mean by "out in the system"? and why does that have you gone for days at a time?
