I have a 98 9200i. Wanted to see if anyone experienced any of the following problems and if so, what was the solution.
Air Fan Speed - only works on LO and HI, there are 2 positions in between and when selected, they do not work.

No air coming out from the vent by the driver windshield. The passenger windshield is getting air but not driver.

Is it possible to change from old school climate controller to the newer one with turn knobs?

    Thank you so much...

The fan circuits are mostly separate for each speed with different relays and power sources. The only thing in common with those speeds is the actual control switch itself and the resistor block. I would suspect the switch control first, because since low speed works, that means all sections of the resistor block are allowing current to pass, and med and med/hi connect to the resistor block at later sections that low speed also passes through. As for your air flow problem, I would suspect the duct has become disconnected in the dash. The diagram I am looking at has the rotary turn knobs, as those are the ones with 4 speeds. The older one that shows for your year has the 3 speed fan control.

Thank you so much. I did some digging and come to find out that the older one that I have (pic attached) works only in MED and HI (not in LO). My apology for the confusion. Do you know if the harness is the same on the unit I have (picture attached) and the new model? Or that will not work due to parts being different. I will take the dash apart to see if I can find the disconnected duct. Thank you for that info.

Nope, totally different generations. With no low, you have either a bad resistor block, switch itself, or wire in between.

    Humblepie Thanks this.
