We have a 1994 international 4900 tandem axle dump truck. Solid truck, has the good old DT 466. Runs nice but it sees a hill from a mile away. I would like to keep the truck around but might want to get a little more horsepower to keep up with the rest. What would be a realistic engine swap for something like this? Eaton 8LL transmission

Could look for the dt530, little bigger, try and find fire truck version, they had highest rating from international.
If electronic may have to find someone who can flash ecm to higher hp or willing to put fire truck file in it, may be able to get another 50hp out of it that route. -
the DT 466, 530, and 570 are all the same block and should bolt up to your Eaton. Power = $$, depends on what you can find

To the OP. Did you ever swap anything?
A local shop that sell engines told me that a Cummins Big Cam can fit in a 4700/4900 they even quote me 8k labor to swap it.mission_creek Thanks this. -

And if that big cam engine is unknown to you, you should have work done to it before you install it.DXN1EL Thanks this. -
Unfortunately i did not purchased the 4700. Other wise i would have tried to install a 3406B myself. -
put a big block chevy in it might have a tad more power
