Alright guys as some of you know I'm getting pretty close to turning 18 while my dad is 49. He has his own truck that he runs OTR. But my question is how much would it cost to add me on insurance to run instate?

Why don't you call his insurance company and ask?

6wheeler Thanks this.

If insurance is not affordable, go to a community college or private CDL school, then hire on with a household goods mover and make in-state pickups and deliveries.

He asked a question and DriverToBroker made a valid response.
Only the insurance agent can say how much more the costs will be.
He just made a valid post to the question -
Most commercial insurance companies won't insure anyone under 21. Many require drivers to be at least 23. No one can tell you what your dad's insurance company will charge to add you to the policy but your dad's insurance company. If he has been with them for a while, they might cover you. But, the premium will likely be high. My first call would be to his insurance agent.

Every company is a little bit different. It also depends on the type of coverage your dad currently has and the set limitations. The only answer is to call and see what they have to say as previously discussed. If they are able to offer it, prepare for for it to be exceptionally expensive and cost prohibitive.

Anyone out there have a 18-20 year old driver driving for them? I'm not wanting a exact price. Just a area.
