Hi to all. Recently I received a quote from my insurance agent for non experienced driver $43k. Which included: $1m liability, $100k, $150k full coverage for 2018 truck and trailer. 4 years old USDOT number with good safety rating. Progressive for some reason refused to provide a quote for my company. $43k seems high even for California. Can someone give an advice and best solution for it? Or maybe share their good insurance agent. Thanks in advance and God Bless.

What commodities are you hauling? If it is anything related to automobiles the market is very right in California and prices are insane. Progressive just pulled out of the towing market completely as well as most auto transport that involves salvage or non-running cars. This leaves only about 8 underwriters doing that market.

$43k is high but not unheard of for a new driver. I have clients with plenty of expierence getting $25k and up quotes in the car haul market today. It is insane.

Become a dual resident some where eles with cheaper insurance prices bud, your insurance quote was higher than my take home last year. And that no lie.

That is definitely pretty high 43k even though, you’re an inexperienced driver. I did read hauling cars is a very high risks, some insurance companies won’t even take it and the one who do will charge very high

13 years of experience that’s an answer why is $14k. But I believe you can make it lower

Driver qualifications help but a new MC is what a large portion of the rate is based on.

When we were new authority which was last march we got insurance through progressive for 14,000 a year. 43,000 is just ridiculous. We haul both dry van and flatbed so I’d shop around.

Do you live in Florida or Georgia? Both those states are expensive.
