So I need your help/advice. Looking to open new authority, right at 2 years CDL experience, clean driving record, 750+ credit score, etc. Spoke with Progressive on a basic $1 million liability and $100k cargo coverage, standard freight, no hazmat, No extra options.
Now I was expecting around $30K but was floored when I was quoted just over $45K. I haven't even heard of numbers this high. I'm definitely going to weigh some options but was reaching out here for some advice. Thanks!
Insurance for new authority $45K year???

I would shop around. But only having 2 years experience is hurting you.
NightWind, Siinman and Big Road Skateboard Thank this. -
OOIDA...
(Owner Operator Independent Drivers Association)Vampire Thanks this. -
OOIDA was my next one to try
I also know that I'm limited on which insurance companies will actually insure a new authority but I know that OOIDA does.
Thanks! -
Another one that obviously didn’t do any real research before running out to get their authority, and make their millions in the trucking industry.

Where are you located?

KDHCryo, joec214, BoostedTeg and 3 others Thank this.

Were you OK even with the 30K you were expecting?
-
Yeah, the $30K was what I was told to be expecting and for the circumstances, was ok with that and kind of set out budgeting/planning for that. But what I was quoted caught me off guard and the additional $1350 a month is a huge difference, especially in a tight market.
