I have a 95 International 3406b Cat, replaced head gasket month ago after dropping oil pan and pressurized cooling system, seen coolant coming down from around the camshaft, thought head gasket had blown(little oil in water, steam and water coming out of vent tube) had head worked all new gaskets, was running good but still losing water so I drained water added new coolant and then everything went wrong, water in oil very bad valve covers full of milkshake oil/water mixture, dropped oil pan and removed rocker covers and pressurized system and now coolant was pouring down from liners, so now I have removed the head, all pistons and I have read so much about liner protrusion that I AM WORRIED, my mechanic friend says these liners go down and lock in place that is not a problem with this engine so what can I after the liners are installed to make sure there is no protrusion or to low liners? I am doing most of the work myself with technical help from my mechanic friend and online advice, the truck ran great before and after I replaced head gasket just losing water and had to change oil every 2 months because my oil pressure would drop so I knew it was time, so any advice on liner installation and how to be 100% sure it is right would be great. Ok, I understand not everyone has the money to take their trucks to dealers or Cat shops to get engines done, or don't want to spend the money. But why do you guys insist on taking such a large big job your self without getting the most important tool there is, the engine service manual!!! All the information you need is there. How to measure your protrusion, and what to do if it is too high or too low will all be in the manual. That is how to get it 100% right.

I would seriously consider to cut the counter bores on it

OK can anybody with experience with installing the spacer plate on a 3406c tell me about the four yellow oring's in the head gasket set, when I took off the spacer plate there was 2 on the bottom of the plate around the dial pins that set on the block side and there is a groove for them to fit in on the spacer plate but on the top of the plate do you install the other 2 orings there? There is a little groove but nothing like the bottom of the plate, when I took off the head I did not see any orings on the top but the gasket was stuck to the block and the head, any advice (not criticism for not having a manual) would be helpful.

Ask this in the main section, not here. This is for International trucks specifically. The Cat guys will see your post faster in the main section.
