Hello Forum. I just started getting an Engine ECU error. When I started my truck it idled a little rough. When I checked the engine ECU it gave me the following:

    Injector 5
    Electrical Fault
    Active
    MID 128 SID 5 FMI 5

I get the same thing for Injector 6 but it's SID 6 instead of 5. I reset the faults and nothing happened. After driving down the road a couple miles I stopped and cleared the faults again. This time the errors cleared and the engine was back to normal. Engine is fine when driving but starts acting up again after being parked for a few mins and when starting it up.

Can an anyone tell me where I can find a diagram for the wiring so I can check that first before taking it to the shop. Thank you in advance for all the help.

Hate to bear bad news but could be a bad injector, maybe two. I had a 2011 D13, threw random codes for a few days so I took to the dealer, I'm pretty sure I got that same code but I have long since thrown out the paper I wrote it on, 1 broken injector tip, 2 others with cups cracked. I got 6 new injectors out of it under warranty.

Thanks for the info. I'm about 500 miles from home and it's riding fine right now. Bought it used a year ago but purchased the extended warranty. I'm praying it's covered! Thanks again

Guess I was thinking (hoping really!) it was a wire or harness since the error says Electrical Fault and not Mechanical and it goes away once I start driving.

Well turns out it was the harness. The protective sleeve/tubing that goes on the wires had peeled off on the terminal that goes to injector #5. So the wires were shorting out. Curious if anyone knows how to take the wires out of the terminal that goes into the injector from the harness so I can seal the wires back up with heat shrink tubing. Figured I would give that a try before spending $1050 on a new harness.
