Does it make a difference witch way the injector tabs are installed on the injector?
I cant see any difference between one side or the other! I don't know if there is a hot and a not or if the injector just needs juice to either side to fire off.
I do know I have more than one set of wires that the insulating coating is cracked and broken !!

one more time... what engine, what year....

Sorry about that ! It is a 1996 3406E model cat 5k66650 . I am installing a new wiring harness for the injector and Jakes .
-
I'm not familiar with the Cat, but with a detroit, the wiring harness is designed for lenght to lay out which side and which one to put the wires onto. Also has a locking hook in one direction.
-
They are numbered one through six on the harness and it doesn't matter which way they go on. But the way they have the slots configured on the end you can flip them to make them point in the correct direction.
-
No it does not matter which slot on the harness goes on which injector post. The injectors utilize AC voltage. I would flip the harness end over especially when I swapped injectors to make it easier to install.
-
When you tie in the harness to the separator plate the wiring will lay a certain way. You want it to be clear of moving parts and have as little stress as posible. I use to tie it in loosely, then put it on and do a test installation, and be sure the injector wiring is positioned properly then just flip it over and cinch it down, and trim all the ties.
Just a thought!
