Improving AM FM Reception

    I'm looking to improve AM & FM reception. Can any of you recommend a superior antenna, amplifier or radio? I like to DX AM when I'm parked.

    I have a CC radio that 15 years old. AM reception is fantastic. Has an external antenna input which I never had to use. Here's the URL - also checkout the other AM radios, too.

    FM is more line of sight.

    AM bounces off the ionosphere - so better reception at night when the ionosphere lowers down.

    What I'm really looking for is something I can mount in the cab that will give me excellent AM & FM reception. The antenna I have needs to be replaced anyway. I'm hoping to find the best possible antenna first...If that doesn't work, I'll replace the radio or try a reception pre-amp. Are there any superior antennas that any of you know about? Any pre-amps that actually work?

    I have tried dozens of antennas as I like talk radio the stock factory seems to be the best and I haven't found a preamp yet that works.

    I have heard that the DX1600 is a good AM broadcast antenna, but don't have actual experience with it.
