    Relax!!!

Pay attention to everything, especially bridges. Clearances and weight limits. Make sure you apply brakes before any railroad tracks, make sure you can clear the tracks and DO NOT shift on the tracks. Make sure you protect the passenger side of your trailer on right hand turns.

When you make your 30 deg back keep the trailer with-in three feet of the cones. Same with the straight back.

Find out the test route, if you can...then you can do some practice runs....watch for tight turns that you might have a trailer tire go over a curb--they won't pass you if that happens.

Go look at their skills testing area and practice on it the night before if you can....or park your truck there on a Sunday and practice, and then you are ready to test on Monday.

Don't worry about the testing....you can always come back the next day and get a do over on any part of the testing.

The pre-trip inspection is good to get out of the way....I was surprised I passed it the first time.

Good luck....don't worry about the testing.

Im in school right now and we have one week left. What is this 30 deg back? same as offset?

We have to do a drivers side offset backing, 90 degree alley doc. 150' straight line back.

Keep checking your mirrors, not just the glance that you normally do, move your head. Especially if you are wearing sunglasses. Another thing for me, since I drove a flatbed for my test, was not "verifying load being secured" after turns. Must have been a verbal thing, because I was watching my mirrors in my turns lol.

    Dont shift on RR tracks.

    Obey speed limits

Notice bridge clearances, my instructor asked me once we cleared it.

Don't hit curbs, dont sway in your lane.

    Know your pretrip!!

Come to full and complete stops, there is a lot to study and remember for the CDL test, but it is imperative to remember your basic license drive test stuff as well. The right way, not the habits you (we) may have formed over the years, lol.

I think thats all I got

It's kind like the 45 degs back, just at 30 degs. It's something Virgina does.

Just take a deep breath and say I can do this. Stay relaxed, take your time and think! Someone grading you can make anyone mess up. Just block out what they are doing and concentrate on what you are doing. You might surprise yourself and have your best run yet. Good Luck!

If you want to really impress them and score extra points, blow the horn before backing and half through backing get out and walk around the truck.
