I made a big mistake with a trucking company I was with for 18 years during the yearly mandatory DOT. I signed off on paperwork stating the breathing equipment was not faulty, when in fact it was and because of my stupidity it was noted through the clearing house that I refused the testing and therefore I was terminated. I've attempted to appeal to the clearinghouse, but it was denied since they need additional information that I can't obtain which would be going back to the DOT site and obtain a statement from the nurse regarding the conversation at the time of testing.
I've completed numerous applications for employment, but when I explain that I have a SAP record and explain why I'm automatically turned down or told they will get back to me.
I'm desperately trying to get back to work and asking if anyone knows of Trucking Companies specifically in the Washington State area is willing to hire me? Your help would be greatly appreciated.
I'm looking for a Sap friendly company in Washington State area to give me a chance

Why does it have to be in Washington State? For your situation, you'll so better to broaden your search some.

1. What is the mandatory yearly DOT? Are you referring to a one year DOT physical?
2. The breathing thing…was this for a random alcohol test? I have never taken an alcohol test as part of the DOT physical.
3. Did you complete a SAP program? You can’t move forward until you do.drh72 Thanks this. -
I was going to ask the same thing as TripleSix...Maybe part of the problem you are having is your explanation, because it doesn't make sense.

Several SAP threads on here with companies listed.

The DOT physical is for the healthcard. There’s nothing random about that. Don’t call it a random as that can cause problems with getting employment. The other issue is despite having 18 years experience, you’re bombing out on the terminology. Not nitpicking, trying to help. You gotta get this stuff right if you’re going to tell your story.
So the company called you for a random. You ended up with a REFUSAL. Do you understand the process of how that happens? And can you give more details about the breathalyzer being bad?drh72, blairandgretchen and bryan21384 Thank this. -
Unlike others, I am not going to be nice about this.
There is a hell of a lot more to the story and any company will ask the same thing if you admit that you were trying to appeal - where is the rest of the story.
Right now, it is a company job market, which means they are in power to reject drivers that only last year would grab people who had bad or marginal records.bryan21384 Thanks this.
