Is the permit test for IL just a general knowledge? or is it general knowledge, combination, and air brakes? (I know when I go for my actual CDL, I need to take all three, just not sure about permit)

Got mine with all the endorsements last week. Use the practice tests here on TTR and the gray boxes in the book. Everyone in my class did and all scored over 90%.

It is all three and they're not too hard. Study before you go in, use the headphones and make sure you read the questions. You can also use the "skip" button if you don't know an answer.

yes, if you dont know the answer push the skip button, dont guess. when you get the minimum number of questions right it ends the test and passes you -
Spend an extra half hour reading the manual & take the doubles & tanker endorsements while you are there. It only took me an extra 10 minutes at the testing station.
superpet39 Thanks this. -
Well, I took it today, and I wasn't as ready as I thought I was, I failed the general knowledge, with two questions left, argh, I leave for prime on sunday, and I have two more attempts to pass it :-/ Ive been scoring well on all of the practice tests though, but plan to go through my manual tonight, and review the practice tests until im ready for bed tonight. does any one know if the test is the same test every time, or does it pull questions from a pool of random ones? also, on the off chance I dont pass the second time, is it still possible to take it at prime?
