Hey guys, I am licensed in Illinois and have the IFTA license certificate but still waiting on the blue decal sticker. Can I drive without the physical blue decals or am I at risk for violations/fines. They said we have 3-5 days before I receive them via mail, but have a load I would like to transport tomorrow and was wondering how to go about transporting this load properly without the stickers being displayed on my tractor?

Is it your truck, mc, authority or leased on

Do you have pre pass. The reason for asking. If you do, when you get pinged, they will already have your info. Not saying you won't get stopped by patrol to check. I did the same a few years back with no trouble

In state or several

I don't have pre pass but what is the worst that can occur if I go through the weigh station and they notice I don't have the IFTA decal on display but when asked I provide them with printed copy of IFTA license certificate and tell them I am waiting for the decal in the mail. Do they have the ability to give me a fine or violation for not having the sticker on display?

No need for IFTA if you run in your Registered State Only.

Diesel Dave Thanks this.

They can write you for it if they're picking. I don't think they will. But never know

One time I enter California they ask to see the IFTA licence even though I have the decals on my truck, the personnel at that particular time probably had nothing better to do. The IFTA literature specifically states you need to display the IFTA decals on your truck or 'subject to trip permits...'. You satisfy the spirit of IFTA agreement but some a hole can get you on the technicality.
