Looking a build a better life for myself and wife and have always wanted to get my CDL - Freight offers an apprenticeship program that can help me get my foot in the door. If I resign or quit at Express does that effect my employment at Freight?

    Chinatown Thanks this.

Sounds like only a FedEx employee can answer that. FedEax has their own sub-board FedEx

You'll have to ask FedEx about that.
I don't think you have to quit FedEx Express to apply for the apprenticeship program.
Just put in an application for the apprenticeship program.

If you haven’t quit express, I would go to the nearest freight center and talk to the TM about transferring.

You will probably have to fill out an application, but I’ve heard of guys transferring from express to freight.

They already have your employment info and background so it shouldn’t be to hard to do.

You can't transfer from Express to Freight. They are wo different companies. The only thing that stays the same is your employe number. Everything else is like you just hired on to Freight.

You have to go threw the hiring process like everyone else. Just apply to Freight, no need to quite Express to apply. And i would apply for apprenticeship positions and dock positions.

Freight is going threw a major lane realignment so some centers are adding alot of runs some are losing runs. And its been kind of slow also. So starting as a dock worker gets your foot in the door.

Recent post of a guy who got gired on as a apprentice driver in PA. Has some good info and may answer some questions. You may have.

Finally got an interview with Fedex freight

To add to my first post Freight in DEN (Henderson, Co) is supposedly adding 30-40 drivers to their road board. If your in that area by chance, apply as soon as possible. Kansas City(Edwardsville, Ks) is supposed adding 10+ drivers also.

As long as you leave in good standing, you'll be fine. Like @Hawkeye72 said, it's 2 different companies.
I, on the other hand, may not work for anything that starts with 'Fed Ex'. We kinda came to an agreement some years ago. LOL

Henderson is actually the HUB I accepted the job offer for, I accepted the offer a few days ago and started the background check process. I’ll be working the dock as a Road Apprentice until the DDC Trainer is ready for me.
