Is there a decent way to get to northwest Washington from eastern Idaho while avoiding Oregon? I believe you need to purchase special Oregon permits to go in their glorious state (sarcasm), and I’d like to not do that. Otherwise I’d just go up 84 then 82 into WA. I see there’s 95/12/195 kind of following the state line north before you hit Ontario, OR, but don’t know if it’s decent for a truck. My destination is Marysville, WA, and I’ll have a day to get there.

Also, if I’m wrong about needing to pay OR just to drive through let me know. Going to attempt to call their DOT tomorrow.

It may be a stretch to do in a day. Last time I went from the Palouse to Western WY in a pickup pulling a car trailer it would not have been log book legal. I may also have been suffering from a sore head from the previous night's festivities too.

But from Eastern Idaho to Marysville even with a not sore head and in a real truck I think that would end up being a stretch.

I've been between here and Skagit valley just north of Marysville more times than you can shake a stick at, and explored just about every way possible. Quickest is going to be 15 up to 90, then ride it over Snowqualmie, Once you start heading down Snowqualmie start figuring out how ****ed the Seattle traffic is and decide if the 5 (almost never), 405, or the goat trail up through Carnation is going to be your best gamble.

Yes you do have to purchase a trip permit for Oregon. They are not part of YOUR IFTA permit. Been awhile since I've run north on 95. But it used to not be so bad.

Going to check and see what kind of hassle a temporary permit is. Probably 3 more hours of driving to avoid Oregon. Going to depend on which is the lesser headache.

I’m learning to be a bit more picky when choosing loads. Wish I would have went for more money, or refused this one.

If you have longer than a 48' trailer, you will need an Idaho permit to go up highway 95 from I-84 to highway 12.
Also have to figure the offtrack on their form and carry it with the permit.
A yearly permit is $48. I just got a new one 2 weeks ago .

Oregon's permits aren't to bad and once you pay it, you're done. You just do your quarterly IFTA and you list it for credit. You can also if you choose to run on the Washington side of the river to Vancouver, Washington. It 2 lane and has a couple tunnels. We run it when they shut down 84 for an accident. I don't advise it in the winter though.

Just buy the Oregon permit at the first Oregon scale at exit 353. It's not a deal breaker. At least it didn't used to be.
