Not sounding good but Z-Line was REAL quick to point out that the driver of the tractor was a contractor!

It would be nice to know if it was drive tires or trailer tires and who owns which, AND if they were new tires and if so who and when the work was done.

    They were drive tires...

Its really unfortunate that something like that occurred - you'd think that one would notice something wrong in a reasonable pre-trip. Ever watch drivers getting out of their sleepers in the morning? Coffee and bathroom are the high-priority items, followed by gettin' going - pretrip inspections often get shortened to naught.

About 6 months ago, My car was nearly hit by a tire that popped off the rim of a Semi (It was the driverside front tire) on I-5 between Roseburg, Or and Medford, Or.

The truck was hauling for Umpqua, I believe. I was looking in my rearview mirror at another truck that had just pulled over, and I re-focused on the road ahead just in time to see the pickup ahead of me swerve hard into the median, and a semi tire bouncing right down the middle of the lane. Luckily, I swerved and the tire hit the median wall, and landed just off the road.

Just last week there was a truck on I-40 headed east and one of the sets of duals was wobbling and making a lot of noise...A couple of guys tried to tell the mindless halfwit that was driving but he was listening to something with headphones and more than likely had the CB turned off because "I don't like all the chatter!" or some such nonsense.

Like it or not boys and girls, The CB can be the difference between someone making it home or someone dying on the highway...It pays to have it on.

I can't image being in the drivers seat. That has to suck.
Sometimes at 70 years old you just gotta hang up your keys
This may not be his fault, but he has to live with it.
You don't get to many rookies at 70 yrs old.
It's not something you start after retirement like McDonald's
