i would like to become a truck driver in Big Island, Hawaii

I am from Hawaii the Big Island doesn't have any schools they are all on OAHU I know their is a good one at the leeward community college. The best bet will be get your cdl before coming it is way easier then paying the high cost of the school and high cost of living. Driving jobs in Hawaii only pay 14-17 to start things are looking grim thats why I left pay is going down housing going up. Another thing is you need your twic and merc card to get into ports and hazmat is also a big thing since everything comes in on containers its a mixed of freight. You will be required to sleep in the truck on big island some times you will take 10 hrs to get to the other side of island and have a morning delivery.

 

There just arent that many people on the Big Island.

Farming on the B.I. is not the same as in Michigan. Not even close.
Most people live on O'ahu, where Honoluku is.
