does anyone have any part numbers or ideas of the shortest front spring SHACKLE that i can use that has a 1.25" cross pin dia???
my current shackles are about 7-8" long but the shckles on my 92 international daycab look to be like 3-3.5" long which would help me out big time with stance.

anybody know about this, i plan on removing the front block whcih is under the spring which is about 2" thick and then shortening the shackeles another 3" this should get me to the stance and look i want for the front of my truck.

i did this on my pete and it made a big difference any ideas would be great and NO im not going to change out the ocmplete spring pack they are fine and still good.

You will also save fuel by going downhill all the time.

Remove front wheels and tires. That should drop the front end by a foot or more. :laughing5: Sorry, I couldn't help myself.

Seriously, though, some things to consider:
Will you still have tire clearance to turn the wheels all the way?
Replacing the shackles with shorter ones will change the relationship between the axle and frame. (you would tilting the axle forward) Somebody help me here, but I think that's called camber???
Note: your calculations are off a bit. If you shorten the shackles by 4", you will only lower the truck by 2". The front pin doesn't change. ;)
This will make it more difficult to get under your truck for maintenance.
Fuel tanks, front bumper, oil pan, etc, will be closer to the ground and could be more easily damaged by road debris, curbs, etc.

I think the easiest way is to pull a leaf and add air bags, at least from what I've investigated. In my western star, I'm also worried about oil pan/ axle clearance, but I have 4" of blocks between the spring and axle. A 255/70 22.5 should drop it 2 inches or so as well.

well you have a point on getting under the truck part but it couldnt be any harder then me getting out from under my 92 international 4900 fartbox or a volvo WIA on low pro 22.5's lol so i can bear with it.

Now you are right about shackles but i wrote 4" total 2" off the shackles and 2" from the block under the springs. i wont have a problem with caster as i did this 2 a condo classic and a 379 pete i had and all i had to do was make sure to add a 1/4" angled wedge to each side both trucks i didnbt have to align they both drove straigh after lowering.

ALso i saw the shackles on the international are really short so hopefully i can get them to work. Then theres the block thats about 1.5" which holds the shock and is held together by u bolts to spring, but i would have to throw the shock mount on top of the spring instead of below it and then install a shorter shock to compensate as the one on there no is pretty short as it is. this will get me at least 5"-6" drop on front end.

I cant swap my rims as they are the orginal alcoas dated 87 from my truck no way im parting with them, and they have new 11r24.5 tall rubber so i want to keep it on tall rubber and lower it should good rid of the head gap i have between tire and fender. Then i can go bring the rear down about 2" as well to give it a nice raked look on tall rubber. On the clearence issues im pretty high off street curbs as off now i will be bringing it close but should clear, as for inner fenders and hood and frame clearence not a chance i will have an issue with that as ive for seen this part only thing might be tall rubber, i dont mind crawling under her, gives the DOT more of a reason not to have to go down there.

this is happening trust me ive been dying to as its just to tall for my likings lol.

well its done ive lowered my truck up front wow what a difference ride, feel, steer and look wise all +++++ no negatives the steering even feels softer, i know its weird but true.

i ended up having to put new u-bolt clamps of course, 3 new spring pins,4 shorter peterbilt shackles and i revesed the location of the shock perch and instaled new shorted shocks.

before you would be able to fit your head between the large fender gap now you can only fit 3 fingers wide thru it.
