Good morning everybody, my name is Dragos, I'm 20 years old and I live in Romania. I would like to move to the USA and become a truck driver, unfortunately I'm not familiar with the legalization process. It says here http://www.uscis.gov/working-united-states/permanent-workers "There are insufficient available, qualified, and willing U.S. workers to fill the position being offered at the prevailing wage" and as far as I know there is a high demand for drivers and companies are always looking for new people so I might find someone who is willing to sponsor me. Do you know anyone who's been trough this process ?I've read on other sites that the only people they accept is people like doctors who have found the cure for cancer not average people like me. Thanks and blessings to all of you from Romania, Dragos

Unfortunately trucking is not recognized as a profession, so that makes it harder to immigrate. You can apply, they have a lottery for about 50,000 people a year they let in at random.
I'm not sure of a program in the USA, but here in Canada if you can get a company to sponsor you they give you a job and after a few years you can apply to stay permanently.

    good luck.

Good luck. I wish there were similar programs in Europe for Americans who want to immigrate.

Try contacting Schneider - I heard they supply work visas.

I came here from NZ in 2004 on a work visa sponsored by a Missouri company.

Thanks for your answer. Could you spare a few words of how it worked, how long did it take, if you needed to be a driver in NZ already, anything you want (I would've sent you a PM but since I don't have 7 posts yet I can't send a PM to anybody). If anyone has other suggestions I would be grateful to hear them

First Company to contact, this Company will need to be able to hire a student, a person without driving experience. That decreases the number of Trucking Companies available to choose from.

Thank you for your answer and your time. May I ask: do you know any companies that are willing to hire someone ?I know some companies will train you to get your CDL and in exchange you work for them 1-2 years, but I don't know if the same rule applies to a foreigner like me who needs a visa ..
