This evening I sent this letter to the managment team at JUBITZ TRUCKSTOP in Portland, OR.

I do not expect a reply because that's how it is these days...Businesses couldn't care less if their customers are happy or not.
But I will not stop being their customer without at least telling them why...Even if they don't care!

    To whom it may concern,

I'm an Owner/Operator based in ********* and I have been a customer of Jubitz truckstop since 1976. Whenever I'm in the northwest it has always been "Jubitz" for fuel, food and any truck related needs.
I have been running in the south and the east for a few years and have not been able to get to Jubitz for a few years. I recently took on a new customer and will once again be visiting the Portland, OR. area with some regularity.

My new customer had a hot load that needed to be here of Friday and I was looking forward to having Thanksgiving dinner at Jubitz since the few Thanksgiving dinners that I had there in the past were great and the service always made me feel welcome here!

On Thursday of last week (Thanksgiving day) My wife and I met my friend Tom at Jubitz for dinner since he was also taking a weekend run to the area.
I ordered the "Thanksgiving Dinner Special" as did my wife and Tom and here's where things went horribly wrong...

The person that waited on us was inattentive to the point of being rude and the food when it finally arrived was awful! It didn't even look good! It honestly looked like someone picked it out of the garbage!
I ate some of mine as did my wife and Tom as we all sat there in disbelief at the poor service and quality that we were recieving at Jubitz!
After the meal we had some cold apple pie and left...Completely disgusted with the meal that we had.

Being Thanksgiving I just figured it was just a fluke and that Jubitz was having a "bad day" and let the whole thing go.
I was layed over for the whole weekend and had fueled when I arrived...On Saturday morning I went in to get a shower and was told that even though I had swiped my Ambest card that I would have to pay for my shower because I didn't have my fuel reciept. I had already sent my paperwork and fuel reciepts to the carrier that I'm leased to on Friday evening and they said that I had no proof that I fueled. (Why did I swipe my Ambest card?)
This has never happened at ANY other truckstop...Ever!

After my shower I went into the cafe to get some breakfast only to be set upon by the same inattentive, rude waitress that I had on Thanksgiving!
But at least this time the food was edible!

After breakfast I asked if it would be possible to drop my trailer so I could take my wife shopping in town and was told..."NO! And you have to stay on the property or your truck could be towed" (Really?) So that pretty much eliminated even taking a cab into town so she could go shopping.

What has happened to JUBITZ? What has become of the great truckstop that I have always been loyal to?

This morning I had finally had enough of being treated like an inconvenience by the "Jubitz Hospitality Crew" and I left!
As I write this I'm sitting at the "LOVES" in Troutdale, OR. and I'm being treated like a customer rather than an inconvenience and that is what I expect from someone that wants to seperate me from my hard earned money!

This note is to inform you that you have lost a customer!
I realize that my departure will have no effect on your bottom line and that you could probably not care less that I'm not your customer anymore...But I will not spend my money in a place that treats ANY driver that way.

Thanks for all the good years...I'm sorry that they're over!

Jubitz *might* care if they take notice of your public email to them. Customer service just ain't the same these days anymore. It's all about clocking in, dealing with these people again, and clocking out. Sorry to hear about the disappointing meal.

My wife and Tom and I had a good time in spite of the clowns at JUBITZ!
It takes more than bad service to ruin my day but I just won't tolerate that kind of crap from anyone for very long...So, Adios Mother******S!:biggrin_2559:

I think a well-written letter can be an eye-opener, unlike a letter of complaint that starts out with

"The waitress at your truckstop ruined our life!"
"$*((^*$^&z%Z$$#" (or words to that effect)

or any other such over-blown nonsense.

Jubitz would be wise to take this letter to heart.

I don't really care for Jubitz.

When I first started trucking, I went only because of the hype I heard from the show "Movin On" & of course the advertising billboards for 1000 miles.... But then when I saw that they had a bar onsite.... I left.

Did you mention you own a black KW900? Might have changed things quite a bit.

I don't think it would have made much difference....But if I told them I owned a "Playschool Volvo"....They'd have probably tossed me off the lot!:biggrin_2559:

I'm sorry to read about the bad experience at Jubitz. I've never eaten Thanksgiving dinner there; typically only order breakfast as I'm on my way shortly afterwards. The waitresses (and staff overall) act a bit strange sometimes but the service and food have good to outstanding overall. Jubitz has always accommodated our employer by picking us up at the airport and taking us to our terminal on Swan Island.

Many of us park our sets there in the property, sometimes for days at a time depending on the layover. My only gripe is there is really nothing else in short walking distance - the restaurants and shopping area on Whitaker Road are at least 30 minutes away when walking.

As far as the Portlander Inn (attached hotel) goes, don't let'em put you in the 'bunk house' section...:biggrin_2559:

The museum 'loaners' in the front section of the restaurant are always interesting...
