Im thinking of getting an I-Pass or the PrePass toll transponders for the open road tolls. Is one better than the other. I know Prepass has the all in one scale and toll system and the I-Pass is just tolls. I never got one bc I didn't want to be tracked so easily for log book reasons. But with all the traffic cams and cams at toll booths, I figure it's time to join the tech of this century. Thoughts, suggestions??

PrePass I thought I read had a minimum fleet size requirement before they'll deal with you. Don't quote me on that but they are great if you can get it. I've used one when I was at a company OTR job a long time ago.
Side comment about toll transponders: The rumor is they're all supposed to work with each other now to pay electronic tolls per some new obscure federal law that got signed in by Obama not too long ago.
Edit: This might be the one you want here:

LoJackDatHo Thanks this. -
You can get Prepass through Ooida or a few other outfits even as a 1 truck operation. I would break down the toll discount for IPass vs prepass based on the routes you normally run.

None of them work in Florida if I remember correctly.
flood Thanks this. -
I'll check with OOIDA, but I was hoping some O/O's on here had used both to compare. I'm hoping for some real world experience. All info is welcome and I appreciate the feedback so far.
If not mistaken your right about Florinda sun pass and I think the OK turnpike doesn't accept either unless that's changed -
Can manage it all online pretty easily -
I am a 1 truck show and I signed up for prepass plus about a 6 months ago. It saves tons of time going through tolls and bypassing scales. They offered the ny or MD program, you can only choose one. I chose ny because that's where I run the most toll roads and the bridges discounts are more significant than MD tolls or bridges which I very rarely use. It makes your toll expenses really easy. I think it is $25/month for scale bypass, but with the discounted tolls and time saved it's worth it to me.
I don't know if it records all my scale bypasses... I don't screw around with my log much anymore anyway. When you get the report it will show every toll and time you were there. I have heard the state can also get these records and may show up with it in hand if they come to audit you.
Edit to add
It also keeps track of how many miles you do on the ny thruway. Easy when it's time to file and pay ny hut.LoJackDatHo Thanks this. -
We use best pass it combines tolls weightstations and a separate transponder for southwest
-
Geesh I didn't even know we had choices. I had to contact the Ohio Turnpike Commission in Berea Ohio and create a account and place a credit card on file with them. They fill as you need.
I would like a prepass also! But haven't figured that one out yet.
This "Best pass" ^^ sounds best. It combines them? They auto fill/bill your CC? -
