Umm.... they used to have the placards for sale that have no UN numbers on them.. how'd you leave the shipper without them or without spares?

Shippers responsibility, unless you signed off, then it’s your responsibility. Don’t know details , doesn’t matter. Shouldn’t have happened.Placards should never be an afterthought

@Rideandrepair did answer your question. You should have got them from the shipper you picked the hazmat load up at. A minimum of 6 if its not a product you normally carry that you already have spare’s of in the truck. Outside venders vary rarely carry number specific placards other then 1203/1993. If you find a petroleum tanker service center you might get lucky and find the right class of placard thats blank and then write the number on it LEGIBLY with BLACK marker. Other then that return to the shipper and ask for placards as they are responsible for providing them.

The shipper generally has the diamonds. that would be where he gets them.

Otherwise it becomes a retail purchase of diamonds to be delivered in a day or three. If he loaded at the shipper and left without putting diamonds on the 18 wheeler there is a big problem. He will have to go back to shipper to put them on.

IF the shipper refuses to issue diamonds then he will have to contact his company and explain the problem.

And edited to emphasize that the loaded trailer must not leave the property of the shipper without diamonds on it.

Sometimes truckstops have diamonds in the retail section but not always. If not availible there then back to company or shipper to source the diamonds specific to the load.

Most truck stops sell blanks. I've bought class 9 blanks, but that was just 3082 antifreeze. Not sure if you could get away with writing in the class and UN or not. I've had those stupid things get wet and blow off, it happens. Left the shipper with 4 on the trailer and 6 spares and pulled into the receiver with 3 on the trailer and zero spares...try a tank wash or chrome shop if the TA doesn't have them
