I need help been trying to get temporary 30 day insurance for my truck but having a hard time

There are companies out there that will do it. You need to call around and ask do they offer "non-trucking" coverage. If you have a small carrier near you, maybe start there. I actually got a qoute thru OOIDA, but was thinking it was kind of high. I ended up calling the agent that the carrier I am leasing on to when I get the truck ready. It was half of OOIDA's qoute for the year, but the draw back is they wanted it all upfront.

Basically at this point and even after you lease on, if you are leasing on, you will need Physical damage and bobtail or "non-trucking" depending on the contract. Non trucking covers a few more instances than bobtail does, they are both similar but a little different.

 

Have you tried True North? I bought trip insurance from them when I bought my truck. I bought the truck in Oklahoma and drove it home to Georgia. The trip insurance gave me a week of liability and a month of physical damage. My Finance company was good with it.

 

What I did for a friend I put his truck on my policy added him as a driver. Once he got it were he needed it i cancelled it and had him pay me the difference. Just a suggestion if you have a friend ask.

 

Progressive has never asked me for my authority to write a policy, just the amount of comprehensive I want, the lender info and what type of cargo; if you say general van freight with unidentified trailer and choose a very short operating radius they will probably write you a policy that won't be more than a couple hundred a month. Don't tell them you only want 30 days, just buy the policy and cancel it when you get something else.

 

+1 on true north.. trip policy good for a week of bobtail and physical.. think it was like $100 bucks..
