USF Holland used to have a safety ahole that would base this off of your written statement.
"I hit a deer." Preventable charge.
"A deer hit me." Non preventable.
I am not joking about this.

Yes I took pictures of the front area. My partner and I still trying to get into a Freightliner to get it fixed, somewhere in El Paso.
We gotta be in Tuscon Sunday.
This kid I'm training wondered why we left so early? Woke him up earlier and showed him what happened... And said well thats one reason you want to leave early.
Theres no blood or gore, but theres hair stuck in the torn parts of the fiberglass. My truck does have a camera so safety will be able to see it all on Monday.
We are still driving its just my nice new 2020 bumper is all messed up.
Thanks for setting me at ease.lovesthedrive, Dennixx, bzinger and 1 other person Thank this. -
The guy fired back, "did the deer hit you, or did you hit the deer?"
Long pause..
Me: "I dont know"
I would here him chuckling on the other end. He didnt ask for too many details just how fast I was going and If I was wearing my seatbelt.
I suspect safety might have a few more questions on Monday. Ill stick to my claim the deer hit me.Vic Firth, stillwurkin and Rideandrepair Thank this. -
Dont get the truck washed till you get back to a term. so co. can see hair in ft. of truck? you dont know how many drivers say it was a deer hit when it was a T/stop smash/up?

I knew the day was coming when I would hit one. Its one thing when an animal dies to feed something else. But kind of sucks to just maul it dead.Rideandrepair Thanks this. -

I live in deer city. (Literally have a deer stand in my back yard,) Down a gravel road and yes, deer definately hit you. I was leaving the house one evening going past the neighbors pasture when a bunch of deer came running and jumping over the fence to race across the road ahead of me. I literally had the car stopped on the gravel road, when a deer jumped the fence and slammed into the side of the car.
I've hit 4 other deer in my life. Two ran into the side of me while I was driving down the road, and the other two I creamed dead center with the bumper.
It's usually simple. If the deer hits me in the side I figure its their fault, if I hit it with the bumper it's my fault. Of course, if the deer wouldn't have been there I wouldn't have hit it so technically its always the deers fault.
(That last line, by the way, is what lawyers use against truck drivers when the are involved in an accident whether their fault or not.) -
I got hit a few months back, took out my 1/4 fender. I knew it would happen, seems they watch for new chrome bumpers. Every time I put one on, it happens. Had this one in the garage for 4 yrs. finally put it on. This week, After 4 ran across in front of Me, I swear one waited till I got close, and darted out, like it’s a game of some sort. Like a risk taking dare, giving him some cred with his other deer buddies. Lol
