I retired from a 30 year law enforcement career in April 2019. I then attended a CDL school on my own and got my CDL with all endorsements with the idea that I was going to go straight into trucking. I was hired by a company and went out with a trainer. After only 2 weeks I decided I needed to postpone trucking because I still had a son in school and I didn’t want to miss all his sporting activities. The company said they understood and I left on good terms. I took a job driving a bus for a retirement community and am still doing that.
I’ll be ready to start my trucking career in about 6 months but I would like to get a regional job right off the start. Are there any companies that will hire me since By then it will be close to two years since I went through CDL school and have no Real trucking experience?
I have CDL but no experience

Most any mega company will hire you and then require that you train with them or do a refresher. Then you can go regional with them.

Try Dot Transportation. This company has 3 facilities in Missouri and also has a "dock to driver" program.

Transport National has terminals in Springfield and Joplin.
Pay is good and easy to make $1500 a week.
Maybe they'll hire you after a refresher, plus your lifetime work history is excellent.
Contact the company and ask what you need to do to be hired. This company does hire new cdl school grads.
