I-94 Eau Claire WI fatal accident :(

Hi bzinger, that is a bad stretch, not sure why. Remember that bus that crashed into that overturned semi? Man, that was a real bad one.

 

dont remember that one semi retired ...all of the wrecks lately make me glad iv been at home and even more glad i dont run otr anymore .

 

2005, I guess. Southbound semi fell asleep,( although he claims he didn't) went through the median, overturned, lying across both northbound lanes, bus came along and schmucked the trailer. 78 year old bus driver, late at night, never saw the truck, although it was dark. I heard investigators wondered why there were no reflective stickers on the bottom of the trailer( I know, can you believe that?) Creepy thing was, my son, from Whitewater at the time, played with that band that night. Very sad. I guess the truck driver was released of all charges. http://www.cfma.info/crash/

Yeah, that's bad. A few years ago, I have a friend that has a truck towing outfit and I did a couple of "ride alongs" to see if I liked it. After the 3rd time, I said, I don't think this is for me.

 

The Forward Air truck was broken down on the interstate. In a whiteout.

 

Fuel Might have gelled up or iced, ambient temps were between -10 and -15 Wednesday morning.

I will say WI state Patrol was somewhat on the ball, they had the electronic detour signs posted all the way down by Tomah at 430 AM warning about the road closure. I took the scenic route up highway 61 to get to the Twin cities.

I think Chippewa trails was the bus company, and that happened about 10 years ago.

They put another driver in a simulator later on to mimic the exact crash...In the simulator the bus driver actually KNEW what was ahead of him, even then he couldn't stop in time, that truck was on the blind side of one of those little hills.
