Just seen in several news stories that officials are saying that there have been a lot of accidents on 75 near Atlanta. Some claiming it is a dangerous stretch of road to trucks. Is there any truth to this or are the "officials" blowing smoke?

every section of every road can be dangerous
too many vehicles on not enough asphalt increase the odds
any road within 50 miles of Atlanta is problematic
like Dallas and Chicago and LA and NYC -
Yeah south side of 75 on the stretch to the Jackson truck stops are pretty heavy with drunks.
Always seems they have many lanes blocked come around 4 am. Their city rail system is a joke ppl have to drive they have no option.
Easy to go around the mess though.
Not near as bad as that stretch south of Nashville that's no contest. Thats the worst drinking and driving major city. Always someone flipped where 65 comes back together. -
Population control. Have a 4 lane highway, and restrict big truck, who are mostly THRU TRAFFIC, to the right two lanes, where untrained motorists have to go through to get on and off the interstate. Works quite well for population control.

Of course when you are in morning rush hour traffic, you see the people in the cars reading the newpaper, books, eating out of a bowl, getting dressed, etc etc.....

There is some truth to it....the stories were talking mostly about the 75/285 on/off ramps and a few exits around Atlanta that a good number of rollovers occur. If you ask some of the drivers they say the ramps have too sharp a curve, the DOT will tell you that you were going to fast. Most of the exits have been there for a good long while.
In one or two spots around Atlanta you have to jump over a few lanes in a short amount of time and miss 62 4-wheelers all in the span of about 60 seconds to make an exit that is one of those left side ones.
A couple of the rollovers have been pretty bad ones though! The point is to slow down on an offramp is probably what was being implied in the article or story you saw.Gemini72 Thanks this. -
it's the mass exodus of the Florida Snowbirds and Springbreakers creating all the traffic on I75 It was a early Easter this year and they all leave right after Easter Thank God.
