$10 for parking. yeah ok whatever. OR free with $75 in fuel or $75 in-store purchase. Um, I'll just pay the $10.
Travel store - general stuff you'll find at any truck stop. Note, they do not sell cigarettes so if you run out, you'll be walking to the BP across the street.
Restaurant - over-priced and mediocre at best. not 24-hour. Probably one of the weakest looking salad bars I've seen. Most of the guys I saw who got the salad bar were intimidated by the choice of lettuce and asked the waitress to bring them some chopped up iceberg lettuce instead. The high octane burger was good though. My one complaint about it was that it comes with fries and coleslaw. I loves me some coleslaw. The coleslaw that came with it was, no joke, in a small condiment cup and was about one fork-full.
Showers - small. $10 deposit. bring the key and towels back, you get $2 back. so $8 really, or $4 if you purchased fuel.
I don't go here because I want to. I go here because I usually have to as it's the only truck stop I know of in the area other than the Pilot down near I-55/80.
Oh the other thing I loved: huge box on the counter at the restaurant for restaurant comment cards. Apparently the restaurant owner thinks his food is so great that they need a box large enough to handle all the positive comments. I do believe there's also a sign outside that reads "Best steak in town".
...right.

There's the pilot and the petro just south on 57 at exit 355......plenty of parking at the petro and they used to have a lot across the street....that's where I park if I have to be in Chicago area

heck the International dealer I had to go for a truck repair yesterday was just 2-3 traffic lights down.
Also to note, but forgot until now:
They don't have WiFi.
But! The people that work there are nice. -
i have used that t/s quite a few times--same reason--close to my pickup--and i didnt feel like driving down to the pilot--never ate there--and running/dodging cars just to get smokes isnt much fun

I remember one of the night cashiers mentioning something about how they haven't sold tobacco for 10 years or so but I figured maybe the owner quit smoking and didn't want the stuff anywhere around to curb temptation. -
I'm surprised some reputable truck stop company hasn't bought the place up to refurbish it as it's really the only t/s in the chicago metro area, unless you're lucky enough to get a place on one of the oasis along the tollway system. The old clark t/s at I-55 and Rte.30 was ok had room for truck parking. Food was alright. it was a pain getting out at the traffic light though...I was sorry it closed, but from what I understand some land developer bought it to build homes there!
