Ok I turned my truck in at a crete terminal and now Hunt has said I abandoned the truck even though I filled out all the trun in paperwork required. Anybody have any experience with this type of situation and have some advice?

This will be interesting. Did you give any notice you were quitting? Were you under a load?
-
Yes gave them a 2 week notice. I was under a load but also but also was over on service so I stopped in wilmer,Tx. It took them 2 days to do it. My new job said they needed me now so I contacted the executive operations manager and he said "ok". They accepted the truck at that terminal in dallas, Tx as turned in, so I just cant see how that can be considered abandonment. I signed a paper when I started working for them stating I would return the truck to omaha, Ne if I quit and if I didnt I would be billed for recovery costs(flying a new driver down to get it), I payed the recovery costs with my last check(actually they took it out). So I turned the truck into a terminal belonging to Crete(owns Hunt trans). Filled out turn in papers, they accpeted the truck, and I payed for the costs to fly new driver to get it. Umm abandonment? How?
-
Wow, Good luck, sounds like you did everything right. I hope the take it off your record.

So far no luck at all trying to deal with hunt so now i am talking to crete who owns hunt so maybe can get somewhere going that route. I suppose if that does not work I will get an attorney and sue them for defaming.

Companies do not actually call your previous employer do they? They usually just go aff your dac report right? Do you think that dac fix thing would work for this? Has anybody used it and it worked for them?
That might be the cheapest way to get it taken care of instead of going through an attorney and courts and accusing them of defaming wich they did do as far as I am concerned -
Each company is different, some don't call if it's on the dac, some don't use dac at all and still others pull the dac and call everyone. -
Hopefully you have something signed from the terminal you dumped it off at stating they received it, and some sort of inspection. That will be your only CYA, otherwise it is a he said, she said. -
Yes I have the truck inspection sheet and I am disputing it with dac.
-
problem is, you signed a contract stating you would turn the truck in at omaha, ne, not Texas. Irregardless of the crete terminal accepting the truck, you did not fullfill your signed contract, and can be charged with abandonment of the truck. It is all in the details, and so many forget that, and want to justify what they did was right.
Sorry but you did abandon the truck, by not returning it to the destination required by the contract you signed when you started.
