I don't think you will need to chain up. I-90 to I-25 isn't that hilly. There will be rolling hills and wind for sure.

I'm sure winter road maintenance will be non existent in the middle of th night. Just keep your momentum so you can crest a hill without spinning out, and don't try to stop if you start slipping while going down a hill. It's too late for that, just keep the wheels turning so you can maintain controll.

Yeah, it's crappy winter driving, but you will get the hang of it. It's not as bad as it looks. Well, except freezing rain in the late call. But snow usually has a bit more traction than what it looks like.

Just take it easy and don't get in a hurry, no problemo.

Remember when Montana had no speed limit , thats when I got pulled over outside of Glendive the lady trooper jumped the median and pulled me over , all she said was we don't mean that fast driver , walked back to her cruiser and took off.
Speedo needle was pointed at the floor , ah yes the old days.

Did it weekly, year-round hauling camp shacks north from Denver (Berthoud, to be precise). IIRC, the shacks were 60' L x 12.5 W x 14.25 H (loaded). We got shut down a few times in Wyoming due to wind and road closures, but other than that, just another day trucking.

The steepest hills are between Billings and the state line, but it's pretty tame. I don't specifically remember chaining, but it's possible I did. Chaining is just part of the job, so no big deal.

Always check the weather and roads. I used the NOAA and state road apps. Never run fuel down less than 1/3, have some Diesel 911, a few tools, warm clothes, food, water, etc.
