They will either rent you a car or have one of there drivers pick you up in a truck and brink you to Roanoke for orientation.

everything seems to be alittle slow at howells, no one seems to have a clue, the raliegh yard seems to be on life support, portsmouth yard is very slow . the new word is that , the hosipira account is slowly coming to a dead end , but mr.cannon ,has not said a word to the drivers , mind you at one time this was the #1 contractor for smithfield packing, with 30 drivers on smithfield ,it makes no sense,

You like sitting around at somebody's dock for hours? I was with Howells several years ago and for 3 Fridays straight I got stuck for over 15 hours each Friday trying to get a load of Hershey on in Mechanicsburg, Pa. Never again!

Just quit there. Nice people but clueless on load planning. When you bring up possible HOS conflicts they whole lot is clueless?!? Got tired of calling in once home constantly to see if I had a planned load. Felt like I was an owner/op begging for work. They post something like 30-40% drop and hook but never saw it from 11/2012 till i quit. You may get 1 preload when it's time to get home. I got lots of brokered loads that were low miles and all live load/unload, so I spent most of the day sitting at docks. Talking to guys there a while it seems they've lost freight. Everywhere u go England has taken over and talked to one former driver and he says at crete he is hauling the stuff he used to get at Howell's. The slump must have something to do with planning/dispatch since most customers say "they are nice people, cheap though, but they can't get to anywhere on time"... To the customers, it's not the drivers fault. While there I got Dispatches that were to be picked up at the same time you were at the docks meeting a delivery appointment. SMH
