PB Blaster or WD 40 if they’re seized up. I use oil - any oil, on binders.
I throw straps the same - and roll them ‘hook in’ like yours - however -
If you throw them so the roll naturally unrolls as it travels over the load - it helps out on tall loads.

Ive used a spray bottle of diesel to lubricate ratchet binders before... But I tend to prefer snap binders, which require less maintenance and less likely to get froze up from rust.

Hook them on your rub rail - squirt ‘whatever’ in the threads, from the top - leave them a while - let gravity run it down the threads.

Your way ,you have to throw the strap over the load.
Wind it the other way and you only need to throw it over the first corner off the load,it will unroll itself to the other side.cke, blairandgretchen, farmerjohn64 and 1 other person Thank this. -
