I am on a super tight budget and was wondering how I could go about tuning my antenna without purchasing an SWR meter. Any help is really appreciated!

    You can't.

How much is an swr meter?

You can find them cheap. Like $5

Go to a CB shop and pay $10 - $15 to have them set it.

I'd invest in a cheap SWR meter following the old concept which goes something like "Give a man a fishing pole and he'll eat forever; give him a fish and he'll get a meal."

Well...........................maybe. Depends on how its mounted and where.

Ditto. This is a shortcut that's no shortcut. Five to ten bucks is worth it. And it will pay for itself over and over.

I bought one real cheap from a lot lizard in SC. A customer of hers realized he left his wallet at home and traded her the meter for her favors. Of course she didn't have a radio of her own, so she sold it (the meter, that is) to me for a few bucks. You just never know what kind of opportunities might present themselves to you at a truck stop!

I wonder? Did she really get the meter in a barter deal, OR, did she simply palm the (p) meter.

    Blaskowitz Thanks this.

She actually keistered the meter and, surpisingly, acheived a near-perfect 1.1:1 SWR reading
