They really cannot do much with your information unless they can see anything for themselves. This would fall under the reasonable suspicion part of the drug tests that drivers are subject to. I mean if you call their fleet manager and mention that you know that they have driver on the stuff.. they can watch the driver for signs, then based on what they see, smell, hear etc, they can then required the driver to go in for a reasonable suspicion test for alcohol and or drugs. This won't be any fun for either side of this story.. but if you honestly think that the driver is a danger to himself or others.. its not a hard choice to make... if anything to save your BF

Safety yes, law no. Give the guy the chance to clean up before involving the fuzz and they totally destroy any chance for him to clean up. If his record keeps him from gaining employment he either goes deeper down the hole or he'll end up meeting the law all on his own.

When I turned in my Chauffeur license all them years ago I watched many of my mentors leave the trucking industry, all because they could barely fill out a logbook, not because they had to be hopped up to function.

But, I also years later seen a guy I knew from school driving a rig. Never got to really talk to him but ran into his ex. She said he was ignorant, ran coast to coast doing cocaine like candy. I blew it off thinking she was being hateful or something.

Couple years ago he pulls into my place looking like hell warmed over! Said he retired after falling off his flatbed and hurt his back. Laughed and joked about the good times he had coast to coast while doing cocaine, kinda felt bad then for thinking his ex was a liar.

But back to the point I was making earlier, CDL is a $$ scheme, and not for the drivers that have to have them.

That’s why my original comment started with the word impossible….

You didn't specifically say war on drugs, that the CDL was supposed to eliminate that. I thought the CDL in 1978 was to standardize the drivers and I don't recall it having anything to do with drugs. The drug tests came later, mid 80s. I was mistaken, it was NIxon that started the war on drugs, it was Nancy Reagan who initiated the "Just say no" program. I read, pot use among truck drivers today is at an all time high, and 56% of all drug test failures are because of pot. It should be noted, 75% of drivers that fail a drug test, leave the industry. So many good drivers lost, and are the roads any safer? I think not.

Nothing wrong with a little pot in the truck.

Well all he has to do is pass the urine test and he has proof that he is clean. Doesn't take too much or cost too much.
