Driving is very stressful even if people do not realize it. I drive a truck. Even when I just drive out on the 2 lane hi way, 60 or 75 miles, my blood pressure would go way up. To the 145 - 165 over 110 area. It was just the driving which I did not even feel stressed over. I'd take pressure before and during driving to check this out.
How to lower blood pressure before physical

I have a wrist cuff to check my pressure, and I have used it while driving just to see.
It goes down by quite a bit while I am driving. I have seen it at ~116 over 64 while driving.
Driving, in general, has always been more of a hobby for me.chimbotano Thanks this. -

also cut the drinking, salty foods( high cholesterol) exercise. And don’t be a fat ###. -
First , you really need to get that checked and monitor it.
Second drink nothing with caffeine or sugar for 4-5 days before the exam , just water and as much as you can possibly can hold
Third don't smoke for the same time
The forth i don't recommend but I did years ago , use some blood pressure pills from a relative -

I'm pretty much cool as a cucumber in most aspects of my life. Driving, even on snow/ice, dealing with idiots on the road, frurstrating shipper/receivers. You name it, I'm pretty much calm.
You put me in a doctors office for a DOT physical and my heart is racing, going into fight or flight territory. Then thinking of my BP rising makes it worse. It's almost impossible to pass a DOT physical due to that.
But I don't need medicine because my BP is normal, everywhere except the doctors office. I have 3 BP testers at home, 1 manual, 2 machine. They are all within the same range of reading from each other. I know my BP is fine.
I have a DOT physical coming up Tuesday. But I think I know the answer to the white coat. I really don't care this time if I pass or fail. If I fail, I'll let the CDL go.seamutt Thanks this. -
