I would LOVE to get into Shop Rite. I am currently leased onto a company doing containers in NJ and we do Shop Rite on Saturdays and Mondays. The container work is good but I hate the piers and the wait time, since I don't get paid for it. We pull refers out of Keasby NJ. and sometimes dry van from Elizabeth NJ. I asked the dispatcher there who to talk to and he didn't know. I also looked into the trash hauling in Orange County NY. I would have needed my own mc and dot numbers and the insurance was extremely expensive, $9,300. a year one lump payment, they are worried about a wreck with the clean up. The money would have been good they told me $4000-$5,000 a week, but I also needed my own dump trailer. I am trying to find out who to call or talk to in Shop Rite to get my truck on, There is a owner operator I spoke to who lives in NY and hauls in PA and for some reason he refused to give me the safety departments number to try and get in. He has two trucks with Shop Rite and wants to put a third on. He told me that since in live in NY they will not put me on, but if I move 30 miles from where I am now, into PA then they would.......that's crap all I asked him for was the safety departments number and not a reference from him. There is enough work with Shop Rite since they opened 30 new stores since May under Price Rite, and plan on opening more. I would like to know who I need to contact in Shop Rite in NJ or PA.
I thought about Land Star, Mercer or Universal (Mason Dixon) since I have flatbed experience as well as van, refer, and haz mat. I don't have a problem doing over the road, regional or local. Any advise??

I googled it and looks like they are owned by Wakefern food corp. This is there websight, maybe try general inquiries. http://wakefern.shoprite.com/contact-us/

I found this. Wakefern i believe is the franchisor. I work for a distribution center for Wakefern as a checker currently and all the truckers (except during the busy season) for the shoprite deliveries are Ironclad union members (Contract requires them to be union members unless peak times require extra drivers). I see ryder does seasonal hiring for drivers for Class A for the shoprite runs.
Good luck. -
Contact Bill at Farm2Fleet. The website is also Farm2Fleet.com and Bill owns the company.
Jerzey Trucking Thanks this. -
Foodhaulers inc or LLC I don't remember. Out of nj. They get most of that work.
If you only asked one guy, try harder. -
I know Grocery Haulers is down that way in NJ also. I see them doing alot of this work. Always seem to be looking for company drivers though so that may not be a good thing. Dont know if they lease guys on.

Idk which store grocery haulers pulls for, I only see the fleet internationals rocking that name. Food haulers I see OO trucks. And nice ones at that. There's a few other grocery chains that hire OO to run their product, none come to mind in that area.
OP where is it that you live? And it seems you're pretty open as to what you want to do: what names do you see coming thru your area day after day after day? Talk to the guys running those trucks. -
Used to deliver to Wakefern in Keasby almost daily at a prior gig. Food Haulers Inc. is the O/O side, the guys in the company trucks are Teamsters employed by Grocery Haulers (red day cabs, largely Macks and Internationals). The Ironclad Logistics folks (leased Ryder tractors, also Teamsters IIRC) are mostly from the Covington PA location, that I've observed.
IF you're in that neck of the woods, also look up Johanna Foods in Ringoes NJ. They occasionally have spots open, they're all O/O and if their trucks were any indication a few years ago, they're making money.
But, I'm out of that world and don't plan on returning, so this is slightly dated information.rabbiporkchop Thanks this. -

That garbage gig is probably good steady work. Always see lots of those trucks going up and down 17 in Sullivan county.
