How do you get your loads and contracts with shippers if you have your own authority and reefer unit or even hualing gravel.

Direct shippers or from special websites, called loadboards

You are asking how to find the Holy Grail.

What you need to do is take the OOIDA course on being an Owner Operator. That is my opinion.

Then loads are found by doing the work yourself or by paying folks to do it for you.

Doing it yourself requires you to call on potential customers and offering them a service that you can provide better. Hopefully, you have done your pricing so it is fair and still profitable. Service is more important to the shipper then cost as the cost is pasted along to the consumer. Just offering a lower price will defeat the indeed of becoming an Owner Operator.

If you want others to find your loads, you can get a contract with a broker. They will find loads or have access to loads and take a percentage out of the total load. Some are good and trustworthy, others not so much. Then you can just sign up for load boards. Those are also brokers but you have less of a chance of success with these as the competition for these loads drives the price down even more.

Finally, you can just lease on with a company. JMO

Not always, for the good shippers yes, but most shippers do not fall into the good category.

That's probably going to happen sooner than you think. I've heard a lot of them are dropping like flies.

It must be. The market for used trucks is moving in favor of the buyer ..at least where I live.
