I used to drive the speed limit in my own car, and even then, I would OFTEN get tailgated. Maybe it was just my community, but probably not as people are just cray sometimes. Being tailgated was probably one of the most annoying experiences of driving, when it happened. Otherwise driving is actually very fun for me. And tail gating is something I don't think is enforced enough.

I was thinking, if I became a truck driver, how would I deal with tail gaters.

I was thinking a great way would be to record them with a video camera, and then send it to the local police when I'm done with my trip, license plate and all. Maybe they would fine, or put marks on their license. Muahahaha.

It would be the ultimate revenge. Is there any feasible way to do this? I know that trucks cannot see back out of the cabin, like a normal car. So I could just put a rear dashboard camera up. I would have to attach one to the back of the truck, expose to the elements or something.

Is there any better way of doing this?

I know that driving a truck, you have to drive even slower than I used to. So I'd imagine I would get even more tailgaters than I used to.

You ignore them and pay attention to what's ahead of you.

Not much you can do about tailgaters.

I could care less about tailgaters. They're back there and I'm up here. I just make sure that I don't tailgate. You seem to be pretty hard up about it. Wait until you start driving and really have something to worry about.

The ca dmv handbook says the answer is to increase your own following distance.

Usually, if possible, I pull to the side or switch lanes to let them pass. Of course, they usually don't have the brains to do this themselves. Tailgating does bother me a lot I think it's rude. Not only is it rude and uncomfortable, it puts my life and my car in danger. It's a bad crime, not the most viscous, but bad because it's so common and unpenalized imo.

I just hit the windshield washer and they immediately back off. Every time. Try it, and you'll see.
