Yep, I feel like an idiot posting this one.
On my previous truck I had tripod mounted convex hood mirrors. On this one, it's a single hood mount, something along these lines:

I assume to adjust the arm in the base, I need to remove the cover plate? The arm moves towards the truck when I'm going down the road so I need to tighten it down. On the 4 sides of the coverplate, there's just a tiny small hole in the center. The coverplate is metal, not plastic. I've tried to pry it off with no luck.

How do I tighten the mirror arm within the mounting bracket so it won't move?

Thanks in advance for helping this dumbarse out!

Some have a set screw. Some have no adjustment. The last pete I had did not have one. I had the owners put a set on mine and they kept blowing in. I took the base loose which is almost a 2 man job to tighten back up with that long hood unless you about dissemble everything. I found no adjustment and called the owners. They said there is not one on it, but the next time I got thru the yard to stop and they would try to tighten them. I took 2 tiny cord type bungees and used zip ties on my rookie sticks (bumper guides) and hooked the bracket on the mirrors to keep them from blowing in. Just had to unhook it from the bracket when I popped the hood.

From the looks of that pic you could loosen the nut midway and adjust the mirror that way. Also look at the back of the mirror for set screws. If that base plate is like the one I had it is a pain to get to and no adjustment was there.

The arm moves within the mounting base. It doesn't move freely, but after 20 miles or so down the road, it moves enough to where the mirrors are useless. I need to know how to tighten the mirror arms within the base.

Sounds like the right hand hood mount on a Century. There should be a hole for a hex key on the bottom side of the cover plate. Loosen that and the cover plate should come off. That will reveal the clamp that holds the arm.

    Good luck!

Personally the left is worthless and should be removed or turned inward
The right should be adjusted to view the front bumper on the right corner, otherwise remove it also.

I am having a similar issue. I have a 2019 Peterbilt 587 and the hood mirror arms were installed facing in due to previous owner running New York City. They are useless and I'm getting tired of looking at myself in the windshield. My covers have 3 little holes, 1 in front, back, and bottom of chrome cover. I have looked and looked for an answer on the net and haven't yet found a solution to loosen them. I would love for someone to have an answer. Thanks

I'm having the same conundrum with a 567. Might even be the same mirrors.

Bump it on the corner of the trailer next to you leave the TA, that'l move it. Should be able to loose up the clamp that holds the stabilizing arm and then slide it to where you want it, if not try the first idea.
