You can get a class A at 18 but you can't drive out of the state until you are 21.

18 or over, u can take the test same day if u have a truck (not recommended)

and not a lot of companies will hire an 18 year old u have to wait till ur 21 before u can go across state lines so most
companies want u to be at least that. not to mention insurance regs. so my advice wait till ur 21 and keep the license clean

Even local companies dont like to hire 18 year olds? like if i get a class b when im 18 and then i'd drive like a dump truck locally and then when im 21 i would get my class a and look for bigger companies to hire me

If you can find a dump company hiring jump on it. Allot of that work went the way of the contruction industry. If you'r going to get a CDL get a Class A now, you just might not able to use the class till you are 21. By local company, you mean pulling double for fed-ex or the likes of any of them, they require 21.

get ur A if ur able and get it over u'll be happier. a class b is a waste of money its the same test just ur in a straight truck. as far as the local companies its not really there deicion its all about insurance regulations and what there insurance co. will let them hire some say 21 some say 25 with 3 years expierence but most want 21 with some expierence or want u to come from an accredited truck driving school

If you have 10 weeks to go to a community college the Hope grant will cover it 100%

Going to a 3 week commercial course will cost you up to $6000. Millis Transfer, north of ATL, runs a school for $2500 but I think is't only for drivers going to work for them.
