What an idiot,,,"nah, that crane ain't goin' nowhere,,,oops, there goes the crane after all". A basic understanding how cranes work would have helped, now they have a bigger mess,,,nice. Had to be in Peru,,,

Why they let the trailer swing out after a almost perfect lift is beyond me.

He's got the boom over center of the swing radius that should've been accounted for. A third point from a wrecker pulling laterally when it breached the edge may have provided enough counteracting to the swing radius and prevented the doomed crane from toppling. Tricky stuff.

No dragline rigged on the rear to keep it from swinging?

The crane at the rear of the trailer did not boom up as the trailer came up like the crane at the front did.

Crane needed to bring the boom back as it was lifting. Simple operator error but huge consequences.

I don't think its design renders it capable to raise the boom under load. Like a backhoe has twice the power on the dipper, the crane has power in the winch. They should have had a third line pulling laterally to contain the movement and draw it in once it breached the ledge.
