What an idiot,,,"nah, that crane ain't goin' nowhere,,,oops, there goes the crane after all". A basic understanding how cranes work would have helped, now they have a bigger mess,,,nice. Had to be in Peru,,,

Why they let the trailer swing out after a almost perfect lift is beyond me.

He's got the boom over center of the swing radius that should've been accounted for. A third point from a wrecker pulling laterally when it breached the edge may have provided enough counteracting to the swing radius and prevented the doomed crane from toppling. Tricky stuff.

No dragline rigged on the rear to keep it from swinging?
D.Tibbitt, not4hire and jamespmack Thank this. -
The crane at the rear of the trailer did not boom up as the trailer came up like the crane at the front did.
Studebaker Hawk, Doealex, Hammer166 and 4 others Thank this. -
Crane needed to bring the boom back as it was lifting. Simple operator error but huge consequences.
