Don't know about TX, but in IL, there is no parallel parking in the test. Just forward stop, straight back, right turn, and angle backing

I can do that with only 2 feet longer than the truck, make it a challenge. a blind man could do it in 100 feet

Is there a distance it can be from the curb (like 6-18 inches or something) or as long as it's in the space it's good?

I took my test in San Antonio and the tester took me to an empty street, set me up in the middle of the street and then got out and watched me as I backed up. Pretty easy no lines or cones and I don't think there was a distance backing you had to fall in to but I was only allowed a so much for the pull up. You are allowd to pull up once you back, so remember that. Dont hit the curb or test is over. Take the point hit if needed and get the test over with. If this helps this is how I was taught .... when stopped and ready to back, turn the wheel two full turns to the left, back up watching your wheels in right mirror, glancing to left every few seconds. They watch for that. When wheels on trailer are a few feet from curb bring steering wheel back two turns to right to zero out and go one more full turn of wheel to right to bring the tail back. Get close then pull up. Practice that if you have time. If they ask you if you want to try again, say no and go get your cdl. Just don't touch that curb dude and you are golden. Good luck!!!!

I did mine in San Antonio as well.

Mine too at the side street by the apartments and someone's van was burning when we got there. A bunch of cars pulled over to look getting in the way. Finally, the examiner got back in the truck and said screw it, let's go. She was way cool and I scored 100%. You can be up to 18" off the curb. Make a stab at it, be careful of the two school zones speed and don't drag the trailer over the curb at the last light at the end.

Wow, TX makes you parallel park? That sucks. We did it in school but having to do it for your test is rough.
