    Hi All,
I was recently asked to load and unload 53 footer trailer with freight that was contained in pallets. How much would you guys charge for loading and unloading. And also if the shipper takes more than 2 hours to load, how much you get extra by hour for the truck and the driver.
Please note, here I am charging the broker.
    Thanks

It varies by company, but for a full unload my company pays me 100 bucks. For detention over 2 hours, I get paid 18/hour as an o/o. Company drivers at my company get 15/hour.

If an electric pallet jack is supplied I'd do it for $75 unload, $75 load. Detention $65 per hr calculated to the nearest 1/4 hr after 2 hours.

be careful here, just because it's on pallets doesn't mean it's a runoff. to make an intelligent decision and not screw yourself you need to know the # of pallets, the gross weight, the total case count, and most importantly the number of different items. who's the consignee? add $100 if it's a grocery warehouse, chances are there will be breakdown which you will have to do. does the consignee have a dock?

I've been paid anywhere from $80 to $450 for unloading. It all depends on what you can negotiate.

Typically you don't charge detention if you're being paid for the unload.
