Because all I see is that they can make 25%.... um that doesn't really give me a good estimate of how much money that is per week as a company driver. A lot of my search results talk about o/o car haulers. I love my current company that I drive for and would like to have a backup plan.
How much do company car haulers make?

IMO, any percentage based deal will only be as good as the company is honest. You love your current company? Then why do you want a backup plan? If you love your current company but you're wanting to earn more money, talk to them. When one of my guys is behind the eight ball or just wants to know 'how do i make more?' i'm happy to hear it, there's a huge list of things drivers can do to save companies money (saving/making money should be treated similarly when all else is equal).
Regarding car haulers, the only car hauler I know personally has done very well, largely because the outfit he's with is very good at keeping every spot filled for as many miles as possible, but in your instance, i'd tell you that 25% with an honest company means they want guys who can do more than just drive, i.e., some hustle and sales and probably calling on old contacts to try to bring some business with you and generate revenue. If you happened to be an OO car hauler, going to work for a company like this could reap more money than doing it on your own.
But again, any percentage deal is only as good as the company is honest. -
Thanks, I meant a backup plan in case I get fired or like every job they introduce a thousand new changes that require more work for less money. I still do not know how much on average a company car hauler makes.

There is one guy on this board that left the company I work for and went to haul.cars. Local, home most nights. He is arou $.60 per mile I believe. Very happy, runs hard though. Uses the whole 70 every week, but he goes home to sleep it off LOL. He is in the DFW area though. May be different other places.

I hauled cars for a year back in 2000. I took home a grand a week and was always home on weekends. I can't say how it is these days but that job is the only one I regret quitting.

The average car hauler makes anywhere from 50-60k ( realistically) first year on a 25% pay rate. Keep in mind this number will go up as you get more experience hauling cars. There are experience car haulers making over 100k a year but its not a easy job we definitely earn every last cent of our money in car hauling.

Mileage is around 60 cents loaded but you're ety half of it.

From what I hear a guy I know is making 27% of the load he carries. So say he hails a load of cars from mad to Texas, and from Texas to mass back. He's making 25% of each load he drops so say a loa is worth 12,000$ for shots and giggles. He's 25% of that. Not sure about exact numbers but right now my instructors son is pulling in about 3,500$ per load he does. I guess he works 3 weeks and takes one off at the end of the month. Good money if you get the right deal

BigX72 - can you clarify - is it 27% or 25%? You used both figures.
Thanks.
